Dr Khan is an extremely experienced and skilled business manager, with a track record of success in developing business solutions for the introduction of clean energy technologies to diverse global markets. He has particular expertise in the markets of rural Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
In 2008, Dr Khan established Enerleq, a boutique consultancy focusing on energy, telecoms and IT services and technology, with a diverse range of African and international clients.
During his time with Intelligent Energy (2002 – 2008), Dr Khan was responsible for the implementation of fuel cell, hydrogen generation and CHP projects throughout South Africa. He gained a broad understanding of the problems associated with the introduction of leading edge technology into developing markets, and the planning and support needed to overcome these.
Dr Khan is an advisor to the South African Government on the subject of sustainable energy and clean energy technologies, and was part of the core planning committee for the formulation of the Department of Science and Technologies Hydrogen and Fuel Cell National Strategy.
Prior to joining Intelligent Energy, Dr Khan was business development manager at Accelerys, a leading scientific software development firm. Here he was responsible for driving the business forward into new markets, including the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.
Dr Khan gained a Bachelors degree in Chemistry in from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) and a PhD in fuel cell technology from the University of Surrey (UK).
